Welcome to our class page!
We are well on our way now and enjoying the challenges that year 6 brings.
We had a great time shopping down at B&M and Home Bargains so the children could get their Make £5 Grow things. It was a lovely morning for a walk and the children enjoyed using their £5 and budgeted well too. We hope that you will all be able to come to our Make £5 Grow event on Wednesday 4th December to support the children. Please bring as many family members as you can so that the children can sell all of their wares. We will be open to parents at 3.20pm until about 4pm. KS1 children will be invited to attend the event as well from 3pm.
Our Christmas Carol Service will be on Monday 16th December in the afternoon and on Tuesday 17th December in the morning. I will post more details on our class dojo page.
After Christmas we will be having a sponsored spell to help raise money for our prom so please support the children in learning their spellings and also in getting as much sponsorship as possible.
Could I please ask that you try to find the time to listen to your child read. Although you might think that by year 6 they are good at reading, they still need to read regularly and challenge themselves to improve their vocabulary. Why not ask them questions about what they are reading? As you know we will have a SATS paper for reading and the children have to read three texts and answer questions on each one in just one hour. The more reading their do, the better. Thank you.
Don't forget, homework is set on Monday to be returned on Friday. I alternate between maths and literacy for homework. I normally put the homework details and weekly spellings on the class dojo page too so please keep an eye out for these.
PE days are Tuesday and Thursday.
Our topic this term has been WWI and after Christmas we will be studying WWII.
