Welcome to Class NG! We are a year 4 class with 27 children. Supporting us with our learning this year is Miss Baker, Mrs Shaw, Mrs Graves and Mrs Belsham. 

Homework will be sent out on Mondays and will be due in again on the Friday. This will include a piece of homework and weekly spellings. 

PE sessions will be on Thursdays. We are also lucky to have swimming lessons every Wednesday for the whole year. Please make sure your child has the following: a swimsuit/trunks, a towel, goggles (if required) and £3 swimming money. Swimming hats will be provided for the children but if you wish to provide your own that would be brilliant :). 

Literacy

In Literacy this term, we are using Cine-literacy to support our fairytale unit. The film we have chosen to watch is Maleficent which is the alternative version of Sleeping Beauty. After looking at fairytales we will move onto newspaper reports. If you are a newspaper reader, please share these with your children and discuss any of the features you can identify. 

Maths

Maths this half term will include lots of place value work. It would be helpful if when discussing Maths with your children, perhaps while doing homework, that you discuss the value of each digit in a number. We will also be covering addition, subtraction, shape and time this half term. 

Topic

The children and I are really excited about our 'Stone Age' topic this term. We will be exploring the characteristics of the past through all sorts of topics. This topic is linked to our Art and Design Technology also. In Geography, we are looking at the continents of the world and exploring map reading. Fingers crossed we can begin going on adventures with maps sometime soon, and help when the satnav stops working in the car! In RE, we are looking at Christianity and exploring the Bible and stories from the bible in our lessons.
