RE Book Cover Competition!
Thank you to all the children in Years 1 to 6 for their impressive entries in the 'RE Book Cover Competition'! Mrs Arnold (RE Link Governor) and I had a very difficult job in judging their eye-catching pictures! Congratulations to the winners, and also to those whose designs came 'highly commended'! The winners' class RE Books now proudly display the winning designs! Best wishes from Miss Abulkhairi
We are celebrating the Chinese New Year in style this week! We kick- started the week with an assembly based on deputy headteacher, Debbie Byles', trip to China where the children were fascinated by her collection of colourful photos! Then on Tuesday, the school enjoyed workshops led by the 'Education Group', where they learnt how to create a Chinese Dragon & Lion processional dance, including eye-catching masks, parasols and fans as props. All the classes performed their dances beautifully - well done to everyone for playing their roles in this! Also, a BIG thank you to parents for their contributions to this event and to the PTA for their funding too! The week ahead is commencing with varied classroom activities on the theme of the Chinese New Year!...
Assembly (23.10.19)
Back in school yesterday for our ‘Harvest Assembly’ in which representatives from the Salvation Army and the Food Bank received all of our many food donations sent in by our generous parents/carers. An amazing sight in all! Thank you for all your contributions, which will make all the difference for families in need in our community. Also, thank you to my three enthusiastic Year 6 helpers for helping to pack all the many boxes!
Harvest Week 2019
Church Service (22.10.19)
What a cracking start to our Harvest Week with our ‘Harvesting Our Talents’ service at St Nicholas Church. Wow; what a talented bunch our pupils are! They are highly skilled at everything from singing and dancing to karate, and piano and flute playing! A big thank you to all who became part of our congregation for an afternoon to remember! Also, thank you to the church wardens Janet and Enid for their support. An extra thank you to my trusty four Year 6 helpers for ushering our guests into the church and helping me with the notices and music!
15th May 2019
All of a sudden today, we heard a special bell being rung all along the corridor by Mrs Anderson! This was our signal to go out onto our sunshiny playground and field to celebrate our headteacher's birthday...with dancing, singing and playing (and extra breaktime)! So nice for the whole school to be together and, of course we all sang the 'Happy Birthday' song at the end! An afternoon to remember!
Easter Assembly (1st April 2019)
At the end of last term, the school came together for a special Easter Assembly in the hall. We sang Springtime songs and looked through Jesus’ story in pictures and words. The children all sang enthusiastically…and remembered all the song actions too!
I hope you all enjoyed a very Happy Easter time!
Best wishes from Miss Abulkhairi
‘Easter Assembly’ 2018
On the morning of Wednesday 28th March, we celebrated the beginning of Springtime with our Easter Assembly. The children sang all our seasonal songs enthusiastically as ever, especially their annual favourite ‘Spring Chicken’! (A BIG thank you to Noah, from Year Six, for preparing the lyrics for these so efficiently!) All the classes took turns to present their Easter items to an audience which included our special guests; Governors Mr Mann and Mrs Pettifer, Salvation Army representatives George and Jon, and the Reverend Margaret.
The Reception Class wowed us with their artistic creations of cards, decorated eggs and chicks. Key Stage One recited ‘Funny Bunny’, a humorous poem, with matching actions on cue! Key Stage Two read the events of Jesus’ life as represented by ‘The Three Trees’ story and role played this beautifully.
We closed with the children’s prayers followed by the Reverend and Jon’s blessings; the perfect way to wish everyone a happy and safe Easter break!
