Primary School and Nursery

Year 2-Miss Curle

This term we have been very busy in Year Two learning about the history of transport! We have delved back in time to learn about how people used to make their journeys and compared it to nowadays. We learnt about famous inventors, such as Karl Benz and how they have influenced the world.

In our Geography lessons we have been learning about the routes that local transport make. Next time you need to make a trip, make sure you ask us the best route to take! We can plan it out for you using the local buses, trains and boats!

We have enjoyed our Science lessons and learning about different habitats. How many habitats can you name? We learnt about hot, cold, dry and wet places as well as the animals that live there. Where do you think a meerkat would live?

Next term our topic is going to be about the seaside. We are hoping for some lovely weather for a trip to the beach! We will also be having our SAT’s week in May. More details of this will be coming home soon.

Enjoy your Easter break!

Wow! What a busy term we have had in Year Two!

We have finished our topic of ‘The Great Fire of London’. The children loved dressing up for our themed day and learnt lots from the experience. Thank you to you all for providing such amazing costumes for the children.

We are really proud of how hard the children have been working on their reading skills. They love reading aloud to us adults and are showing a great understanding of the text that they are reading. Thank you for your involvement in reading at home; when the children read at home they get a sticker on their book mark. When they have 10 stickers, they are allowed a prize!

The children have also been amazing at our Nativity performances of ‘A Magical Christmas Journey’. Not only have they learnt lines off by heart, they were able to sing and dance their little hearts out throughout the whole show!! I definitely think that we have some children who will end up having a career on the stage!

Next term our topic is going to be linked to ‘The History of Transport’. We cannot wait to delve back into history to find out how transport has developed over time.

Enjoy your Christmas break and we cannot wait to see you all in the new year.

Welcome to Year 2!

This year our classroom is going to be meerkat themed! We even have a class mascot, Mr Meerkat, who will be watching us to check that we are all working as hard as we can.

This term our topic is The Great Fire of London.

We are going to be learning about what life in London was like during this time as well as how the fire started. We are also looking forward to our “History Off The Page” day on the 17th October when we will be taking part in a whole focused day looking at the Great Fire of London from a visiting company.

We are well underway with our science topic of Ourselves and enjoyed learning about our sense of smell! Miss Curle made us smell different pots and predict what was in them. We loved the honey but did not like the vinegar!

Reading is a priority in our class this year as it will help with our imaginations when writing. Every time we read at home we are given a sticker on our very own book mark. Once we receive ten stickers we are allowed a prize out of Miss Curle’s lucky dippy bag!
