Summer Term

Wow! I cannot believe that we are already in the Summer Term! 

Our main topic is going to be The Rainforest.

We will be using our Geography lessons to locate rainforests around the world, as well as learning about the animals and plants which live there. We will then be trying to find as many of these animals as we can during our trip to Colchester Zoo!

We will be learning about plants in Science and during our Art lessons we will be learning how to sketch botanical drawings.

In History we will be learning about The Maya Civilisation and this period of time.

To help us in our Literacy lessons, we are going to be using the film Rio and learning about carnivals/Brazil.

Our P.E. lessons this term will continue to be on a Tuesday and Wednesday.

Welcome to Year 3!

You will find lots of adults in our class ready to help you with your learning: Miss Curle (class teacher), Miss Baker, Mrs Shaw, Mrs Beck, Mrs Moll, Miss Cooper and Mrs Sitton (don't worry - we will be spread out throughout the week!)

In Year 3 you have made the transition into Key Stage Two! 

Spring Term

In the Spring term, out topic is Raging Rivers and Fantastic Pharaohs. In our History lessons we will be learning about the Ancient Egyptians and what life was like during this period of time. 

In our Geography lessons, we are going to be learning about water and the water cycle.

We are going to be continuing exploring Roald Dahl's books - this term will be Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We will then link this to our DT lessons where we are going to be designing and making our own chocolate bars!

Our PE days are going to remain on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Tuesdays will be Dance (ask us to show you our Egyptian dance moves!) and Gymnastics. On Wednesdays our lessons will be taught by the Tiny Rugby coaches and the children will be learning how to play Hockey.

Autumn Term

Our topic in the Autumn Term is 'Dawning of the Ages'. Our History lessons will be based on learning about The Stone Age and life during this time. In Literacy, we will be watching The Croods and our work will based on this film.

Reading will be a big focus in our class. You will be given your own bookmark on the first day back in September and every time you read at home you will get a sticker. When you get 10 stickers, you will be allowed a prize out of the dippy box!

Our class author of the year is Roald Dahl! Just wait until you see our book corner in class!

Our PE days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  

Homework will be set on a Monday and will need to be completed by Friday. This will always be linked to our learning in class, learning our times tables, reading and our spellings.

Key Stage Two have access to the school's tuck shop during morning playtimes. Health snack options are sold for 10p each. Alternatively, feel free to bring in your own healthy option from home.

I will be using Class Dojo to post updates on our learning in class and important messages etc. Please feel free to use this to contact me or catch me on the playground in the morning.
