Today I have set a BBC Bitesize lesson to have a go at writing a diary entry about Grace Darling who in 1838 the first year of the Victorian era performed great feats of heroism. Have a go at all three of the activities and post up your finished diary entry onto dojo portfolios.

A diary entry is a form of recount in which the writer explains what has happened to them.
Here's a checklist of the key features to use when you write a diary entry.
Start with 'Dear Diary’.
Describe the places where the events happened.
Write in the past tense.
Use pronouns like I, my and me to show that the events happened to you.
Talk about how you were feeling or what you were thinking when each event happened.

In your books draw two pictures of a hospital ward one before the Victorian era and the other, a picture of a Victorian hospital ward that incorporates some of the improvements that had been made (e.g. clean, sterilised instruments, wearing surgical masks, etc).
