I can write a diary entry.

Today I have set a BBC Bitesize lesson to have a go at writing a diary entry about Grace Darling who in 1838 the first year of the Victorian era performed great feats of heroism. Have a go at all three of the activities and post up your finished diary entry onto dojo portfolios.

A diary entry is a form of recount in which the writer explains what has happened to them.

Here's a checklist of the key features to use when you write a diary entry.

  • Start with 'Dear Diary’.

  • Describe the places where the events happened.

  • Write in the past tense.

  • Use pronouns like I, my and me to show that the events happened to you.

  • Talk about how you were feeling or what you were thinking when each event happened.

  • Use interesting vocabulary

For maths please watch the video. Pause the video when it asks you to have a think and also to answer any questions. When the video asks please have a go at the relevant questions on your maths worksheet. Use your maths book for any notes and stick your worksheet in your book when you have had a go. Check your work with the answer sheet below when you have done

History - Victorian Medicine

I can investigate Victorian medicine and highlight improvements that were made.

Look through the PDF below (if you want to you can do some of your own investigations too).

In your books draw two pictures of a hospital ward one before the Victorian era and the other, a picture of a Victorian hospital ward that incorporates some of the improvements that had been made (e.g. clean, sterilised instruments, wearing surgical masks, etc).
