I can answer questions about a text.

1) How did Jim get into trouble with Mr Barrack?

2) How was Jim punished?

3) What is a ‘Bobby’?(p.g. 63)

4)Why didn't Tip escape when he had the chance?

I can plan a diary entry.

Watch the video below then have a go at planning your own diary entry for Chapter 8 The Carpet Beaters.

After doing this in class I found the children struggled to identify significant events from the chapter. Listen to the chapter again and think about using these events in your plan:

  • Mr Sissons asking for big boys to help the carpet beaters;
  • Jim and Tip sneaking with the big boys;
  • Beating Carpets;
  • Being hugged by the woman;
  • Helping the woman take the carpets outside;
  • Tip saying he wouldn't go with him;
  • Escaping.

Using the features of a diary entry to plan

Spr5.2.4 - Multiply up to a 4-digit number by a 2-digit number

For maths please watch the video. Pause the video when it asks you to have a think and also to answer any questions. When the video asks please have a go at the relevant questions on your maths worksheet. Use your maths book for any notes and stick your worksheet in your book when you have had a go. Check your work with the answer sheet below when you have done.

Another Subject - Music

I can compare similarities and differences between songs.

Previously we have listened to Adele's version of 'Make You Feel My Love' Today I would like you to compare Adele's version with the original by Bod Dylan. Listen to both songs then draw a table with similarities on one side and differences on the other then list as many as you can. As an extension you can then tell me which version you prefer and why.

Adele - Make You Feel My Love (Live on Letterman)

Bob Dylan - Make You Feel My Love (Audio)
